Anyone looking for Craftsman sockets to complete a set?

I was out looking for old tools and found a funky estate sale liquidation place that has a surprising number of nice tools. I scored a few Plomb sockets and a P&C chisel from some bins and was looking through the wrench bin when the lady at the front mentioned there were more tools in the...

    Bought an old Plomb Toolbox

I have been scouring eBay, CL, and any other sites I can find (including this one) for plomb toolboxes for my Plomb tools. I saw this one and it looked familiar...I'm pretty sure I've seen it for sale before. I wasn't able to buy it before and this time I was hoping to have better luck...

Does anyone have any tips on prepping wrenches for chroming? Wire wheeling with a brass wire wheel? Evaporust? How do you remove the remaining nickel plating without damaging the wrench? Opinions and tips needed! I want them to look great. I am getting a set of Plomb Pebble combination...

    Craftsman Alien Head Planer

It is time to move on from this beauty. I bought it at a garage sale for the asking price. The planer works fine, the knobs are all free and the bearings are not sloppy. It comes with a spare set of new knives and the cool stand. The motor that comes with it is not really the right...

    WTB Pebble Plomb Wrenches 7/16", 9/16", 11/16"

I am trying to complete a set of Plomb Pebble combination wrenches. I am missing the 5/16", 7/16", 9/16", and 11/16". I am not too concerned about their condition as I want to have the set rechromed when it is complete. I don't have a 1" wrench either, but I think a set from 3/8" to 15/16" is...

    Super-Hex DBE Wrench...is it a DuroChrome?

A family friend gave me this wrench and it looks like it is high quality. It looks very similar to the Western Auto Super-Chrome line, the 'chrome vanadium steel' font is identical to the Super-Chrome on AA. What say you? The box ends are thin and the broaching looks like high quality work...

    Breaking In a New Hardhat!

I decided to start using an American made Hardhat, and I needed to sticker it up. This was the first one I put on.

Rockwell Unisaw and Drill Press Score!

My father and I recently decided to upgrade from the crappy (actually not bad) portable Hitachi table saw to a 10" Unisaw. We looked on the net and scanned local papers...he wanted a newer one and I wanted a classic looking saw. I found this one on CL. The owner was a former shop teacher with...

P&C Tool Chest and Matching Mechanic's Set

I was perusing craigslist and I saw a P&C toolbox and set of mechanics tools. The tools in the ad looked NEW, and the box was older and looked really cool so I thought it was either a scam or gem. The location was over two hours away, so I made arrangements with the owner via sketchy texts and...

    Is this a Plomb Toolmobile?

Is this a Plomb Toolmobile? I'm not able to go to Fremont, California to pick it up but maybe somebody can. :3gears: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Red-Plomb-Toolbox-3-drawers-Extra-Items-Roll-Around-Box-Pickup-Only-/361343252107?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5421bc768b

Info on Porter's New Easy Bolt Cutters (HKP)?

Picked this up yesterday for $10 - Porter's New Easy Bolt Clipper Size 0. Someone damaged the cutting faces somewhere along the way so I need to dress them up with a file. Should be a nice addition to the cutting tools collection and hopefully one I can use. :D Anyone have any history in...

Identifying Old Hex Drive Socket Sets

I am interested in identifying an Old set of hex drive sockets I inherited from my grandfather. They are very similar to New Britain and None Better sets I have seen on the Alloy Artifacts page. There have been some similar ones posted here as well...I think these must be an automotive set...

Plvmb Open End Wrench with 'War Finish'?

I have been going through my grandfather's tools and I found a roll up of older wrenches, most dating from the 40s as best I can tell. They were stuffed behind a bunch of rusty junk and I had never noticed them before. The roll up contained several Plvmb and Plvmb/Proto as well as SK, Snap On...

    Got some old tools yesterday!

I live near an old hardware store that is rarely open anymore. The owner is a great guy, but he doesn't like pickers, flippers, and lowballers. He really likes selling things to people who appreciate them, and he will usually sell things very reasonably. I was lucky enough to purchase these...

Stratton and Terstegge Wholesale Hardware Catalog 1937

I was reading a copy of the Gristmill, the publication of the mid-west tool collectors association, which I recently joined. I am a neophyte to tool collecting, I just love old stuff and enjoy learning about it. There was an article about handsaws in the Gristmill which was very informative...

    Newb from Oregon

Hello! I am a newb who was doing some research on a durochrome ratchet and stumbled upon this site. I poked around and found a lot of great info, interesting topics, and helpful folks. Hopefully I will be able to contribute to the site as well. I don't actually have a garage, just a carport...
