Good score on that US vise Mudman, I have two but IIRC they are both Japan...

No good scores lately for me may have been a good thing, I had money in my pocket when this showed up on CL for $200!! Dual branded Snap On :lol_hitti and a Mac side box with 7 drawers! :willy_nil

Thanks. Good deal on the boxes. Do you still have room in your garage? It must be getting tight.

Picked up these tool boxes for $25 total on half price day at an estate sale 2 weeks ago.
It even had some tools in it, mostly junk, but at least $25 worth of drill bits, allen wrenches etc. And it had 2 radar detectors in it and a Walter Payton football card!
I'm surprised nobody bought them for $50. I wish I could have been there before all the tools were picked through. Kennedy 526.

Glen, Great find on the Kennedy top and intermediate pretty rare to find those intermediates!

Nice find on that Kennedy machinist box!

Picked up these tho other day. Had to look up the SO part number to realize it was a battery terminal puller. Never used one before, but will definitely from now on. The pitman arm puller is a Bonney.

Picked these ratchets up at a local pawn/gun shop. They look like a really nice snapon copy but they are USA made. Any Idea on a brand or who hade them? No make just a model number and USA. I would guess is they walked out of the CAT plant in Morton at some point in their life:shocking:

Very nice. Those are both CAT ratchets made by Snap On. They didn't seem to brand their older ratchets.

Here's a thread I started: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=280439

Nines: nice find and sorry you'll have to now take off 2 Snap On labels off that box to replace with Craftsman name plates. :D

ALL: nice finds as per usual and always like to see what gems you all find to keep or shine up to save from the scrap pile to send off to another member or user's garage.

Hey, thanks guys!

Outlaw, my OCD will not allow me to keep them together, one being SO and the other MAC :lol_hitti I'll probably repurpose the side cabinet and try to wedge the box in somewhere because I like the size/layout, just not the friction slides. Either way, I'll try keeping them both but I'll have to see how they fit in here.

 Drives, there are actually 3 SO plates and a SO sticker, the side cabinet has the other badge and sticker on it :lol_hitti I knew from the ad that it wasn't a SO but the inside drawers made me want it anyway. If anything, I will leave the original badge on the box and just paint the box red/black to resemble the look I have going on.

Picked up a KRA 250 B toolbox and a GF4L 3/8" speeder for $30 off CL. The box is well used but has no rust and the only bent metal I can find is the latch for the lock is a bit crooked. I can straiten that out. Box says U.S.A. 78, I'm new to picking these up but I think that means a 1978 build? If so we're the same age. Box was advertised at $25, I gave $20. Normally wouldn't but I've been looking for one that would fit under the back seat of the Bronco and for that reason I wanted it regardless. It will be re-painted and used in the Bronco and then go with me to Hong Kong with the added benefit that it's small enough to discourage me from over packing on tools during my upcoming move. Offered $5 on the speeder that wasn't part of the sale but he scrounged it up when I told him the kind of things I was looking to buy. He wanted $10. I said ok in hopes of him coming my direction a little after he goes through his shop with my shopping list. I guess he's looking to thin out his tool collection to get some cash and he said he has lots of Snap-On and Proto. Pics on the way.

A few antique shop finds, Snap On pliers found in the road, and a mini pocket knife I had forgotten about from the flea market:

General ruler, Orange Tool ruler, Wards Spark plug gauge - $2.50
Stanley spring punch, Easco mini pry bar, Sears Roebuck catalog sections (look like repro.)-$5.00
Snap On pliers - FREE- found on the roadside
Mini German pocket knife - $2.50

I run across a lot of these small pry bars made for Craftsman and I think Stanley and other brands but this may be the first Easco I've found.

Wow, nice lot. The proto should be stamped on the bottom front frame rail. The side box looks like the little snap on, which should be stamped on the back.

Thanks to a lead from a fellow GJ'er(Thanks WarmPancakes!!!) the stars aligned and I was able to meet up with the seller and bring this box home.

005.jpg

006.jpg

007.jpg

Only took about 10 minutes to load and strap down as the seller had a forklift.
On the unload I was short a forklift but had two teenaged boys so we got it out of the truck and in the garage safely.I hope to spend some time washing, waxing and moving into this box this weekend if the weather co-operates. I need atleast one new lock, possibly some more keys and a replacement badge at some point.

You guys are finding some great deals!

Been slow pickin' 'round here for me.....I picked these items up yesterday.

1/4" Craftsman metric sockets 4mm - 13mm (missing 10mm) in a nice magnetic socket holder (socket holder is made for 3/8" or 1/2" sized sockets)....$3 bux.
WYPO tip cleaners....50 cents.

I sold my acetylene torch set a few years back but I bought the tip cleaners to see if they will work as nut files for my guitars....I'll let you know!

:rocker: WOO HOOO !!!!!!!! :rocker:
After weeks and weeks of no worthy sales in my area, I finally got to go to one that said they had tools this morning. :bounce:

And then I got there.
This had to have been one of the worst run sales I've been to in a long time.
-They sold the most desiriable items the day before the sale to a consigner that was a friend of theirs. (no earlybirds - My a__ !)
-They were only letting 5 people in at a time (the weather was a windy 25°) I was #19.
-They were making the next person in line wait 5-10mins after someone left before letting them in one by one.
-Most people in line left before getting in because of the miserable conditions.
-The saleable items weren't marked.
-The no-go areas weren't marked.
-The owner was there (with is dog) and yelling "THAT'S NOT FOR SALE" and "DON'T OPEN THE DRAWERS/CABINETS" everytime someone touched anything.
-Only 2 people were in the house to watch everything, so the customers had no idea what they could touch until they got yelled at.
-Most customers left empty-handed in disgust.

The advertised tools were the standard import **** found strewn about most non-tool users basements. I got there 10min early (about an hour after they had let the first 5 people in). After waiting 30min to get in, I left after 10min with my meager pickings.

a partial ball of cotton string
a skein of nylon string
and a rusty Craftsman =V= "ELL" driver (the chrome on the other side is in better condition.

All for $1.50.
I spent more on my breakfast sandwich.
But at least I finally got out of my house for a bit. :dunno:
I'm hoping that tomorrow's listing will be more fruitful. :fingersx:

^^^Hmmm, I used to go to a lot of similar sounding sales .^^^ Could it be the traveling estate sale circus was in town? On the bright side you did good if you don't count your time and all the aggravation caused ;). I like those Ell handles. Good luck tomorrow.

I hit one sale today and all they had tool wise was a bunch of hammers and small jewelry making tools. I hope I did okay

I also found a nice Recod no. 7 plane that was near mint next to the English made stanley box plane

The hammers are German, Swiss or French with some USA tossed in:rocker::D

The forming/swage block isn't marked but looks to be very fine quality. I'm missing some of the punches but I know who has the rest so I'll have a complete set soon
