This logo has cropped up a couple of times lately and it was suggested that I post my Litton Pocket Socket set here.

I have I guess what is an old valve wrench with what looks like a "Z" in a circle. Can't find this logo anywhere. I'm assuming it would stand for the drop forge company? The opening isn't a true square. Also has what looks like two overlapping X's. It's a mystery to me.
Hi. The "overlapping X's" are a W and an A.

I'm looking for the definitive identification of this logo: a keystone with PS inside. I'm thinking Pennsylvania Steel, but this is only a (somewhat educated) guess. Anyone? Examples here are a W&B "S" wrench and an unknown spud wrench, both stamped with the "Keystone PS" stamp.

Woo-hoo! I just found a goldmine of forge mark logos .. do a google books search for 'custom forging capability' and there's a chart of companies with their logos ..
I was able to identify an HT-circle logo as Harris-Thomas Drop Forge .. never thought I'd find that one.

Oswego Tool Co. Oswego NY LOGO.jpg

Oswego / Oswego Tool Co., 119-27 W. First St., Oswego, NY / "Giles Patent wrench" / patent 391957 Oct 30 1888 J.A. Giles / http://alloy-artifacts.org/other-makers-p2.html#oswego / https://www.vintagetools.net/product/oswego-tool-co-8-inch-stilson-wrench-561pc / http://toolarchives.com/node/253 /
I think I have a Oswego Tool Company wrench. The only logo is a circle with a "T" inside. A similar logo was used by Osaka Tanko. This wrench is 8" long and is also marked with matching numbers on the jaw and wrench. It features a easily removable adjuster. Simply unscrew the jaw and then the adjuster can be moved to the side and lifted out. I have a 1920 ad showing this feature on a "S" wrench. Cannot locate any straight wrenches with this feature and logo. Any thoughts on if this wrench is earlier, later, or same time as the "S" model?

The Trade Mark for Brown & Sharpe Tools.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_&_Sharpe
An aside on this: the machinist square with B [dot] S logo appears as early as the 1905 catalog.

However, the same logo with the words "TRADE MARK" underneath first shows up (that I can find) in illustrations in the 1952 catalog. In the 1954 catalog, new illustrations of the logo with "TRADE MARK" no longer have the dot between "B" and "S".

The 1959 USPTO trademark registration, with no dot, claims a "First Use Anywhere" date of July 28, 1955.

However, the 1967 USPTO trademark registration for a version with shaded letters and no dot claims a "First Use Anywhere" of 1897. It also claims ownership of the related registration 56130, which (if you look to the registration certificate) was filed in May 18, 1905. Unfortunately, the "accompanying drawing" was not scanned, and I actually need to leave the keyboard at some point today.

Short version: logo was used since about the first of January 1897, logo with "TRADE MARK" underneath it appears to date from 1950s?
