Depressingly little progress on garage projects in the last week or so, once again silly work and life getting in the way, but in this case mostly work.
Mother nature gave a few opportunities for some fun sky watching...most it amounted to for us was heavy rain so all worked out
The hail storm hit the playset hard, and after 3 years since it was installed and refinished (was used when I bought it) it was time for it again. Powerwasher already did its thing, so was now time for sander
Had to hit most of the horizontal surfaces, vertical/angled surfaces the finish was still in really good shape
The deck got a complete sanding to knock down the high ridges with some 80 grit. For a bit it made me regret passing up on the big Festool Rotex sander on marketplace a couple months ago....though a belt sander with some 60 or 80 grit wouldn't be out of place here and would be far far cheaper. Still need to bring out the detail sander and hit around the pickets on the fence posts and a few other spots
While at it...the climbing wall has seen better days and with 2 kids now using it...time for some repairs
The decision to put the slats on the backside of the posts putting the (2) screws per end in tension and trying to pull out of the 4x4 was a poor decision by the mfg/assembler. Assuming it was done to minimize the gap at the top between the wall and the deck...but either way I'm not repeating it and will be screwing these on the front of the post
Required supply to a big box...this time the orange one as selection at blue was lacking:
(6) 5/4 x 6 cedar boards with treatment...so should exceed the life of the rest of the structure. 'Lil Red really enjoyed playing with the carts that could spin in circles and was very upset when I pushed the cart without him
Knocked the boards down to the required 53.5" length with the tracksaw in the driveway. Way simpler...and cleaner for the garage
Which brings us to the end of progress on that part. Still need to strip the hand holds and existing boards, mount the new ones and then restain...but it's mid 90's and a bit humid so all that outside work can wait for a cooler day
Also finally bought a new tarp/roof for it. Decided not to go with the "typical" replacement playset tarp that seems to get destroyed in 2 or 3 years and bought a custom sized one from an online tarp place that should be a bit heavier duty and hopefully last longer. I didn't ask for approval of the "gray" color from the decider of aesthetic choices....but thought it was better than black, white or red. Will probably look a bit odd compared to the normal choices of dark green or a red/yellow/blue combo....more to come on that in 2 weeks.
In other garage related things, been picking up a few things for car cleaning as I've admittedly been delinquent on that over the past couple years. So trying to treat them a bit better...and "them" may be growing by 1 later this summer....more to come on that
So amongst other stuff....
MTM PF22.2 foam cannon, along with some various cleaners, a soap and some other stuff have found their way here. Now need to get a space identified for them to live
