    Kmart sale thread

While in high school back in the early 80's I worked at a Kmart near Buffalo (store 3008 as I recall). It was actually a fun place to work. I am still friends with people I met while working there. They had that Kmart cafe in back of the store as mentioned above. I also remember having fun...

    Welding Cast Iron

I have successfully welded cast iron on a couple occasions with my cheap horrible freight welder. One was a part to a band saw bearing guide and another was a cracked head from my compressor. Both parts have held up for several years now. I Googled how to weld cast iron and used whatever rods...

Liquid Nails: Apparently not for Garage Threshold

The "recipe" for all these type of adhesives have changed because of low VOC rules... However the polyurethane adhesives have not changed... Anyhow liquid nails now needs more time to dry, which it will after several days. Will it adhere a sill to concrete? I have no idea...

Ceiling texture repair - how to do this?

First you will want to trowel in enough joint compound to bring that tape line even with the rest of the ceiling. let it dry then take some rolled/balled up kraft paper and more joint compound and roll or dab it on the ceiling to match the finish. you shouldn't need to paint it once it drys.

    Garage door opening autonomously

When I was a kid we lived in the suburbs of Buffalo right under a flight path for the airport. When my dad installed our first opener it would open or close itself when jets flew overhead. Re Programming the code fixed it.

Behr Premium Plus Ultra and new drywall

I always use a PVA primer on sheetrock, no exceptions. It is needed to seal the joint compound. I do tint my primer only because the tint is free and it will deepen the finish coat even if it is just white. I then apply at least two coats of finish paint. I have used that Behr primer/paint...

Guys with copper air lines - what fittings to hook up air?

Probably already mentioned but I used copper drop ear fittings. They come in all standard diameters of copper to NPT sizes. They also make straight fittings to go from copper to NPT. Your standard/most common airline fittings are already 1/4, 3/8, or 1/2 inch NPT...

    Compressor check valve question

It doesn't seem to me that you have any choice but to go with the smaller inlet/check valve of the donor tank. I doubt the head pressure build up you are concerned about will really be a problem. Just monitor it the first few cycles after it is rebuilt...

    another plumbing question (toilet)

It is not your water pressure. Don't call the town they will only chuckle at you. You have a fluid master valve pictured in your tank. It looks to me like the plastic retaining ring broke. (maybe the original installer cracked it while putting it in the tank) That is a $12 valve. Just go...

    paint and primer question

PVA, polyvinyl acetate. PVA primer is a latex-base product that seals the pores of the drywall. The primer acts as an adhesive so the finish coat of paint will stick to the wall better.

    paint and primer question

I have used the stuff against my better judgment a couple times (customer bought the paint before I started the job). To me the cost of using it makes no sense as PVA is dirt cheap and can be tinted dark (for free) should the job call for it. My real issue with the Behr Ultra all in one was...
