In duct blower motor not installed to code

I found this in a family member's home. This is an 8" duct with a blower motor. The motor comes with a 6' power cord. It looks like the plug and all of the insulation was removed and the 3 wires were wire nutted to romex wires outside the box. I see 2 options to get this up to code. 1- Buy...

Bringing this well pressure switch setup up to code?

It looks like this wiring was originally code compliant, but at some point in time it was altered. The splice connecting the well pump wiring to the pressure switch wiring in hanging in the open. I think it would need a 2x4 attached to the wall, then a junction box attached to the board, and...

After 55 years I found a use for this tool

I was doing a tune-up and cleaning of an oil furnace, and I needed a long 1/4" magnetic socket or nut driver. I have a 6" Klein mag nut driver, but it wasn't quite long enough. I know they make a really long one, but I don't have it. I looked online for a 1/4 drive, 1/4 magnetic chrome socket...

Replacing sash cords on this window?

This is a 50 year old window, both sash cords are broken. Sash is wood, feels heavy. Cord is 1/8" diameter. There are 4 screws in the left side holding in the vinyl piece, none on the right. I think I need to pull off the left side trim, remove the 4 screws and the lower sash should swing...

Best way to even out heat in 2 story house?

We have a 2 story house with a forced air gas furnace in the basement. On very cold days the upstairs can be 4 degrees warmer than the first floor. There are no ceiling fans in the house. Would it make sense to install one or more ceiling fans on the second floor to push the warm air down?

Are these vinyl faucet supply lines?

The faucet supply lines in this family members house appear to be vinyl. They are decades old and have held up well, no leaks. They don't seem to be in favor any more, most supply lines I see are braided. Why are these no longer sold? Edit: I believe these are Polybutylene.
