    KwikLift for sale

I am selling my Kwik Lift because I am selling my hot rod and haven't used the lift for about a year. I have it sitting apart along the wall in my garage. It is a car lift that raises the tires 20" above the floor, (which puts the bottom of the car about 30" or so above the floor.) I also...

The Home Depot Black Friday ad.

I bought one of those 20" platforms last BF from Lowes. It is nice but only rated for about 225 lbs. I was on mine and reached out and fell down, (my fault), and landed on the platform and it bent the top pretty good. And, I am only 5'9", 155 lbs. So, just know that they are light duty. I...

mildew or mold in the garage now

I was gone on an RV trip for 5 months. When I returned, the garage smelled kinda like mildew or mold. I aired it out and it's better. I see than some hand tools and my rider mower have a light gray film of something on it. (not sure if it's mold or what). Moisture got inside during heavy...

Need help with air compressor pressure control...

Thank you for your help. I understand now, and I will check it out and replace the check valve. You are terrific. I have a pretty good electrical and mechanical background, but this is the first time I have ever had an issue with a compressor, so I learned something new.

Need help with air compressor pressure control...

I can feel the air leaking where the copper line attaches to the control. (Not at something screwed into the tank.) Could there be a check valve screwed into the compressor where the 1/4" tubing connects to it, and then the tubing attaches to the check valve? I am a few miles away from my...

Need help with air compressor pressure control...

The little 1/4" copper line going to the pressure control comes from the compressor itself, right next to the discharge line that goes to the tank. It is a Campbell-Hausfeld with a 60 gal. tank. So, where might I find the check valve? You make perfect sense. I didn't know there was a check valve.

Need help with air compressor pressure control...

I have a 5 hp unit that had a Furnas air compressor pressure switch installed on it. It shut the compressor off as designed, but then the pressure switch would leak air pressure down, from near where the 1/4" copper tubing attaches to the pressure control switch. The tank loses the pressure...

    SEARS - Craftsman C3 Cordless 19.2V 3/8-In Impact Wrench Add-On Tool + Filler - $44.9

This drill is no where at all comparable to the quality of DeWalt, Milwaukee, etc. in my humble opinion

Buy Milwaukee 2216-20 multimeter, get 2235-20 400 amp clamp meter free@ HD

If you ever have a need to measure running amps on an AC electric motor or electric heater, the clamp is what is needed. So, not a bad deal, I think.

    Air ratchet wrench needs repair

My 3/8" drive Campbell-Hausfeld air ratchet didn't work today. I used it about 2 weeks ago and it worked fine. But, now, it doesn't spin the turbine inside. I am thinking about putting some WD-40 in it and try it tomorrow. Maybe it just needs oiling. But, I am not sure if that's what's...

    Kwiklift instructions?

I have a KwikLift that I bought from a buddy several years ago. I don't remember any instructions, but if you have a specific question or two, I am sure than we can answer them for you. It is a very good piece of equipment. Just be sure than your floor jack will raise the heavy 4" pipe high...

    Attic Ventilation

I would also definitely add a foil radiant barrier in the attic area to reflect the heat back up away from the ceiling. atticfoil.com has some good info about this. I bought some for our house in central Florida and it made a big difference.

I have had one for a few years and it's great. I remember hauling it all home in a '65 Buick Sportwagon that I used to have.

    Wall framing and fire blocking

I am not positive, but I think any type of caulk will do the job. The purpose is to prevent air from getting up into the rafter/trusses area. Firecaulking won't burn, but the wood fire blocking is combustible, so I don't see the point of fire caulking.

do the wall sockets in shop need to be GFI like in a bathroom???

Yes, the NEC requires it, as was noted. But, even if it was not required, it still is something that should be done. You don't want to turn on a power tool and get fried. I remember reading about a guy that had a circular saw and everytime he tried to use it, the GFI tripped. So, he wired...

Buy cordless power tools from pawn shops?

I am looking to buy an 18v heavy duty hammer driver/drill, but not sure what brand to get. I see a LOT of various cordless tools in pawn shops. But, I never buy any because I wonder if the batteries are almost shot and if the tools are worn out or defective. What do you think? Does buying...
