When Helping a Neighbor Pays more Than you Put In

You have a great friend and respect his wish to reward you. That’s ok to do on your part. A lot of friends would have just written it off like you owned it to them. I had a similar incident last summer where I re sided a friends park model trailer. Now I did give his a very modest quote up...

"Metal Sales" roof panels that HD sells

I guess I’m too late here as far as walls but for half that amount you could have used 7/16 osb. I installed that, smooth side out, primed twice and painted light creme white and it looks smooth as all get out. Been up 26 years and no regrets.

Are you or have you finished the walls as in sheeting with osb, plywood, or drywall. Just remember that if you attach the stringers to your wall, there is no sliding your wall material back between you stairs and studded wall at a later point. So if you do attach, do so with screws so they can...

    Help me overcome my shallowness!

If you want simple casters you can do this to keep your cabinets in place. Cut a 4"x4” piece of 3/4” material. With a forstner bit drill a 2” diameter hole 1/2” through the piece, centered. Make several of these. When your workbench is in place, place one of these under each front caster...

Garage floor is sloped toward the house

This is exactly as I did. One area behind the wife’s car had a area that water could run back towards the wall. Cement cut the floor, cemented in trench drain, drilled holes in the bottom of the drain for drainage and all is well.

    Must-have or do's for a new shed?

Make use of every sq inch. Put 2x4 pieces at different heights between your wall studs if you’re leaving them exposed. I’ve jazzed mine up a bit by building a lite cupola and put veneer stone halfway up on the front. And you mentioned....power. A def must. Good luck in your build.

PEX or copper for a half bath?

I too have limited use with pex and I’m not one to change up quickly. Guess I’m old school and vote for copper as long as you can sweat well. It’s not as fast but your labor is free and not a huge job.

New Shop Question on Dust collection

I did exactly what you are speaking of when I built my shop. To the point where I actually made cardboard cut outs with the length and depth of my delta Unisaw to properly place where I wanted my PVC four-inch to come up through the floor. Doing this I also brought up a 110/220 Line beside the...
