    Walkway Lights

My daughter gave us some solar walkway lights several years ago. They’ve worked well but the plastic stems gave out. I found some good ones at Home Depot but they still have plastic stems. I found a solution. The stem fits well into a stick of 1 inch EMT. I cut pipes 19 inches, painted them &...

    Staple Gun

I had been looking for a new staple gun. My electric corded Stanley gave out a couple of years ago. I bought a standard Arrow T50 but it’s not as good as they used to be & my stiff hands have trouble with the spring lever. I saw this one at Lowe’s & bought it a couple of months ago. Lever is a...

    Tool Handles

Someone posted a good supplier of wooden handles a while back but I've lost track of it. Can someone post it again? Thanks for any help.

    Impact Driver

My 1/4 inch Ridgid brand driver is too weak to remove a lawn mower blade with 15/16 socket. Would a 1/2 inch driver work or do I have to get an air type and air compressor? Big Orange has a Ryobi 1/2 inch for $100. Thanks for any feedback.

    Best Leak Tarps

Our plant gets a fair number of roof leaks & we put up tarps with hose & bucket to deal with them. Some locations are hard to work them because ours are all square & flat. Usually have to hang by corners and one or more grommets between to get any type of bowl shape to it. Some of the smaller...

    Log Seats

We just had a huge oak cut down as it was dying. Got lots of firewood from it and saved a few large chunks to make stools around a firepit later on. I'm thinking of coating them with some kind of tree sealant on the bottom and clear coating on top. Have any of you done this? What worked well for...

    Poor Attention to Detail

Our department recently got this pressure washer. Supposed to be a good performer, we’ll soon see. I am irritated that the wand holder puts the tip against the front wheel. We can modify it but we shouldn’t have to. I’m not surprised to see junky details on cheap stuff but this is several...

    Leaf Vac/Mulcher

Really needing a leaf vac/mulcher. Had one years ago by Ryobi, was junk. I'm seeing some Worx models on Amazon that look promising. What do any of you have and like? The vac is mainly to get up leaves from driveway without picking up gravel & flower bed without picking up wood mulch. Thanks for...

    Water Tanks

I’m sure some of you can answer this. I came into wastewater management late in life so I will never be a total master of it. But common sense tells me some guys at work over complicate this particular issue. We pick up 300 gallon totes several times a day & bring them to our station. We pump...

    Stihl Chains, Pipe Carrier

4 Stihl Chains, 18 inch, used on MS 260. $15 each or $50 for all 4. Good condition. New chains run about $30. PVC pipe carrier, 4 inch x 10 foot. Straps to ladder rack. $25. Would cost about $75 to make this today. Cash only please, so local or nearby is best

    Poison Ivy on Cedar Tree

This tree fell over last year. I’m starting soon to remove the poison ivy. Can I make the tree safe to cut up and use for crafts or is the poison too much a part of it?

    Chainsaw Chains

Took my Stihl in for service. I gave them a limit and said I may get a new saw if it exceeds. This dealer sells Echo and Husquvarna. Are the chains compatible? I have at lease a dozen chains in fair shape. I'd hate to have to get others. I would get Stihl again but the only dealer nearby is a...

    Barrel Pump Sticking

Barrel pump at work is sticking a lot. If it sits awhile, it gets really hard to crank. Once I break it loose, it works OK. Do I need to open it up and lube it? It doesn’t have a fitting for a grease gun. Thanks for any help.

    Another Hammer

Another hammer from the farm. I never saw one with the extreme curve on the claws. Could possibly date back before 1930 if it was wife’s grandfather who had it. Anyone seen this before?

    Recognize This Hammer?

We cleaned out a family barn & I got this, among other old tools I first thought it was a meat tenderizer but someone at a hardware store thought it was some kind of masonry hammer. Anyone recognize this?

    Add a Cabinet Door?

This is a Tell City china cabinet I inherited. A classic beauty. I had hope we could store our air fryer in the base but the doors are too narrow. I wonder if a good cabinet man could convert the center panel to a door, creating double doors on one side and single on the other. I would never...

    Hardware Store Closing

Sorry to say our last old line family owned hardware store is closing soon. Public Hardware in Durham, NC. Opened in 1924. Closing in the next couple of months. Anyone in this area, go by there soon if you need any hard to find stuff. They have long had items the big boxes didn't have or were...

    Lock Lube

I used powdered graphite on locks for years with good results. But it was no help on my truck recently. This 3 in 1 lube worked in less than a minute. I had been looking for Tri Flow but no one close by had it. This will now be my go to for locks.

    Reuse Hangers

I had 2 of these hanger racks. The plastic backers broke in about a year. Too thin & brittle. But the metal hangers are still good. I mounted them to a wood backer with 1/4” ground wire straps & #8 screws. # 10 will also work on these straps.

    Perfect Rake Handle

Made this new rake handle today with 3/4” EMT. Perfect size & weight. Slowly getting the rubber cap off the old handle for the new one. Doing another coat of orange paint tomorrow.
