    Containers

Not fancy but does the job so far. I had tap & die sets at work in the flimsy plastic shelf packs. I found a couple of old drill bit cases & set these up with duct seal putty. Still irritates me no end that a set wouldn’t come in a better container.

    How to Remove Set Screw

I dug out this arbor & soaked it in kerosene a couple of days, then bar chain oil. I managed to work the threads well today but the set screw is still frozen & the screw slot is damaged. Any ideas how to get it out?

    Customize 5 Gallon Bucket Toolbox

Down the road, I may make a custom 5 gallon bucket carrier. I have always thought of it and think I can make a really good one. I would mostly use nonmetallic pipe to hold screwdrivers, nutdrivers, etc. on the inner wall, totally enclosed. I think I have seen seat lids in catalogs, so it would...

    Mowers Again

Looking again for a decent riding mower. My size maximum is 38 inches, allowing for tight spaces. I need reverse mowing too if at all possible. I saw the Ariens C50, 38 inch on their website. Got a call out to a dealer for price. Toro has a 34 inch zero turn. Local dealer has 2 in stock but...

    Sealing Pipe Threads

Debating a coworker on this. The little I ever worked with threaded air or water lines, I was taught to use sealing tape on male threads, most common. Later to use pipe dope on female threads & tape on male; lastly, pipe dope on both. Coworker only uses dope, usually on male threads. I fear this...

    Leaf shredders?

I am looking into a small leaf shredder, electric. I had been raking leaves onto a tarp & pulling into the woods but that is getting harder. We raked up piles this weekend & I cut them up some with my string trimmer, then hauled them with a garbage can & hand truck. Much easier. Would be faster...

    Toilet Seat Wrench

I made this from 1/2 inch EMT. Used a porta band, took 10 minutes. Works great on these toilet seat nuts.

    Specialty Hand Truck

Our company has this for sale, no longer in use. None of my coworkers know what dept used it or for what. I would buy it if I knew I could resell it online. Anyone have a clue about it?

    Black & Decker Workmate

Pulled out my Workmate today for a project. First time I’ve used it in at least 10 years. It’s gotten a little worn & banged up but it’s a great help. I need to make new top boards or buy some if available. Same with clamp inserts. I’d like to buy a few of those.

    John Deere Mower, 2000 Model

My old Toro Wheel Horse is about dead. My mower guy says it’s not worth fixing. He has a 2000 John Deere, 14 HP, 38 inch deck, with trailer & bagger for $600. This is a true JD, not a big box version. I can’t pay the price of a new mower but is a 20 year old model a good risk? OTOH, I bought a...

    Valve Wrench

This valve is very tight & hard on my fragile shoulders, plus being in a tight spot for using tools on it. I made this wrench in less than 30 minutes with 12 inches of 2 inch PVC & 12 inches of 1/2 inch sprinkler pipe. Works great. I’ll trim my ragged cut end when I have time.

    Recognize this Hand Truck?

Our team came across this old hand truck in a storage room. Very old but in good shape except for a broken wheel. I’ve searched Grainger & a few other sites but not found a similar wheel. I don’t find any name or trademark on it. It may have been designed for cylinders, as it is rather narrow...

    Utility Trailers

I need a small trailer now & then. Not for heavy use or long distances, just to carry a mower occasionally. About a 4x6. I’ve been watching Craigslist & other forums but not found much. Harbor Freight has a 40x48 for 300 & a 4x8 for 350. I would have to put plywood on either one. Have any of...

    Irwin/Hanson Tap Wrenches

Boss has gotten me 2 different Irwin/Hanson tap and tap & die sets. Both have a wrench that only works for the 1/4-20 tap. Will not clamp down on smaller taps. I’ve always liked Irwin drill bits but I am getting aggravated by their messiness with these sets. Is there a better tap wrench out...

    Feet for Stool

My wife gave me this stool for Christmas. She bought in a couple of months ago on EBay & of course I opened it today. It is missing 2 feet. I have a message out to the seller to see if he has any available. If not, I hope I can find something close locally. I checked Fastenal website but nothing...

    Green Works Leaf Blower

Wife bought this on Amazon. About $80 for the set, then later about 70 for an extra battery. Not super duty but so far is good for our needs. Blows the deck well & good on dry leaves. Doesn’t blow gravel in the driveway unless you put it right on it. Very convenient, well balanced, easy to...

    Big State Tool Co, Arizona

A guy from Big State called me a lot when I was contracting. His first few calls were ok, I wasn’t busy at the moment. I bought a Disston hole saw kit and some sawzall blades from him. Later, I would be into a project & didn’t have time to talk. I asked him to fax or e mail me his offerings...

    Name This Tool?

These tools were on the wall of a vacation cabin we rented. No problems recognizing the woodwork clamp, 2 man crosscut saw, 1 man crosscut saw, Hudson Bay axe head & wood auger. I have no clue about the tool on the right. Does anyone recognize it?

    Sad Old Craftsman

What’s left of my rolling Craftsman tool box. One of my list that they quit making. I may yet get another year out of the box. Using it now to catch my overflows & miscellaneous.
