    Recognize this engine stand?

I just grabbed this to hold the 390 I am getting for my 57 station wagon🎉👍. There is no question the it will hold it as it is made from 1/4 steel tubing. The face plate is 1/2” steel. Anyone know who made it? It came from a repair shop and has to be at least 40 years old. Thanks, Mike

    tig welder recommendation

Hi All, I am looking to get a TIG welder for a few reasons-keep in mind I am a hobbyist and it will get used infrequently. 1) I need to restore some Model A radiator shells and they are SS and probably 18-22 gauge? Not sure other than they are very thin. 2) I do have some fenders that need...

Did I do good on this reamer buy?

Since I have a Mode A and need reamers occasionally I found these. No chips or nicks in the cutting teeth. And the price was right. Did I do good? And I am I correct in assuming that to get the correct size I use my caliper since there are no measurement marks? Thanks, Mike

    Wards drop light

Just curious, when did Wards stop making tools-so to speak. I just grabbed this drop like and it has a really faded sticker with wards on it. I hate traveling and antique shopping......😁 the company that made it still around “Alert S & M Co”. Mike

    Thor colors

Hi All, I am going to start the restoration process on my 1940's Thor worm drive saw and decided to go all out. It will get cleaned, new bearings and painted etc. But what I need to know is what color was the saw painted originally? Was it painted? I found a little bit of red on it around the...

Hi All, So I was busy painting away with my compressor when it stopped pumping up suddenly. did some basic trouble shooting and cleaned the valves of gunk-no dice. Ordered new valves (champion compressor) and still nothing-well it pumps to 20 psi. That and the piston hist the new valves as I...

    Binks paint gun help

Hi All, My dad is going to give me his two Binks (#18 and #15) spray guns that he got from his dad. They are from the 50's(?) and I can't seem to find any info on them, as far as pressure/volume needed, how to adjust etc. I am running a smaller (12-15 gal./125 psi/2.5-3 CFM) compressor and...

Tune up of a run out gauge

Hi all, Just picked this up and was wondering if there is a way to ‘tune it up’? I mean it is a tad sticky and I would like to add maybe a few drops of sewing machine oil to it. Is that going to harm it? Mike p.s. I did a test on my drill press-which why I bought it-and it came out at about...

new (to me) Speed Air compressor

Went shopping for a dresser and came home with this plus an antique typewriter desk for the wife. It is 1.5 HP Speed Air, I am guessing with a 20 gal. tank. I don't have a blasting cabinet I just want something with a little more tank space and that is quieter than my pancake compressor. Can...

    paint project critique

Hi All, Ok, here is the scoop. I needed a cabinet for my engine analyzer and found this. It was formerly a government electronics cabinet I am guessing, as I found remnants of a cork sheet on the top. So this year I was able to get around to it and use my new Critter siphon gun. Now, this is my...

    paint prep

Hi Folks, Well the next project is getting closer. So what is the best way to strip the rust off of the cabinet. I have a palm sander and a 4" angle grinder. The rust is not to heavy, namely because the things was primed with military grade primer. then I am thinking Phosphoric acid prep and...

    Weekend hauls and question

Went o. Vacation to Ashland and picked these up. I am guessing a 60’s Thor 6 in grinder and a 1947 worm drive saw. Both are in pretty good shape but I think the saw is going need new bearings or at least a really good greasing. What type of grease goes in the work drive as I assume mine is...

    My 'new' Gym-Dandy cabinet

My new gov't project cabinet Was looking for a cabinet to hold my engine analyzer on and ran across this just north of me in Santa Rosa-along with other things. Near as I can figure it is a former gov't cabinet as it seems to be primed with Zinc-Chromate and is battleship grey. I also got a...
