    Frankenpressor build

Ok, hoping to make this a small build thread. But I just mocked up my 41 Wayne compressor with my NOS Leeson 1.5 HP electric motor on top of my 87 Sanborn 60 gal. upright tank. Had to have an adapter plate made to get the pilot to bolt up. So far everything seems to bolt up. This weekend hoping...

New to me Jet and Craftsman bandsaw

Local ‘trading’ type store had a 50% sale on all tools. So I went in naturally, after the wife prodded me to. I was in before and asked about a 70’s 12” Craftsman bandsaw. She said $100 with no motor. I said thank you and kept looking around. Went in today and she recollected she said 150 and it...

    sanborn air tank+2 maybe?

Went looking at a 60 gal. upright Sanborn air tank today-she wants $100. There is no pump and the motor may or may not work. The tank was made in 87 and at some point it was inspected by the state of Washington-don't know when it was last used. I however have the pump that I got from an earlier...

    new or used compressor?

OK, I have a pump that will put out 7 SCFM and a new 2 HP motor-tank is dead and will be scrapped. So I have been looking at new tanks and they are about a grand for a 60 gal. I need it to run a paint gun and air tools occasionally-maybe a small blasting cabinet. I am a hobbyist not a pro., so...

    My new Wayne Air Compressor

OK, I wanted a separate thread for my new compressor in case someone else has or gets a Wayne compressor. It is in pieces now and I am waiting to get the final bits to pressure check it. I am only going to operate in the 125-135 range so nowhere near the max rating. I am also including an...

50 Hz motor running on 60 Hz air compressor

Hi all, OK, I was lucky and found a catalogue for my Wayne Air compressor. It turns out it is a 1940/41 Model 300 on its original tank by the looks of the plate which says it was made by Scaife and Sons in 1940. So, the catalogue says it is a 1.5 HP compressor and I have been looking for...

But I don't want a cheap one either I need to be able to learn to mix paints and then shoot them well. I have a small...

home hydrostatic testing of an air compressor tank

I can't find anyone in my area to hydro my 1940 air compressor tank. So what I am thinking is this: fill with water and then hook my smaller compressor up to it and let it pump it up to 125 psi and let it sit for a minute or so to see what happens. Will this work-or is there another way/kit to...

    Making an air compressor

Quick how to question. I have a 12 gal Speed Air compressor-2cyl single stage. The motor is currently 110 but can go 220. How hard is it to move the pump and motor to say 30-60 gal tank? Obviously I would have to replumb it and rewire for 220. But will the pump handle something that large? Or...

    Tig sheetmetal

Ok, I have to weld in a patch panel and the metal is I am guessing 20ga. maybe 22. Anyhow it is where the kick panel is on my 57 wagon (not the most ideal place) and I was thinking about Tigging it in. My question is how best to use the foot pedal as I don't have a trigger type gun. Can I just...

    ext. cord for welder

Question, I am doing floor pan replacement on my 57 wagon-so just sheet metal. However, the location of where I need to place the welder requires that I may have to use an extension cord. I have a 12 gauge cord will that work if I am not going near the 20 amp mark on the 110 setting, I am around...

    How to paint this

Ok, I am slowly stripping my Kitchenette which is galvanized. I know there are special techniques that I have to do to paint this metal. But my question is how do I paint the inside of the boxes in it? I am going to use a gun with enamel paint as that will be the closest I can get to lacquer in...

    NOS Dreadnaught Jack

I know there is ‘show off what you just bought’ thread but I can’t find it. If the mods can plug this in that will be fine or I will copy and then delete. Anywho, I thought I would stop in at the local rehab stores and see what there is. -Found a I don’t think it has ever been used sears...
