    Old Craftsman impact worth rebuilding?

I already grabbed a new Earthquake to replace it, so it isn't needed in a hurry or anything. Anyone got an idea about whether a build kit is available should I decide to try it? As if I need another project:rolleyes:.

    Old Craftsman impact worth rebuilding?

175 foot pounds is pretty anemic these days for sure, but if I could get it going for a few bucks I wouldn't mind having it as a spare. I haven't played with it yet, but I'm not sure oil will do much for it as I kept it fairly well oiled. Worth a shot though.

    Old Craftsman impact worth rebuilding?

I purchased this a couple years ago at a flea market for $20 and it worked decently enough, so I put it in my truck box. The last time I tried it though it had no power to speak of so I upgraded to an Earthquake impact. Is this thing worth attempting to rebuild, or should I just chuck it in the...

    An Update on Sears/Craftsman Feedback

The only problem is that Menards isn't a national company. The nearest one to me is in Owensboro, Ky, 120 miles away. Until they expand into the South and the West, they can't hope to replace Sears. As far as Sears/Craftsman feedback, where do you start? The raised panel ratchets are an...

    Chainsaw

Overkill is underrated. My opinion is, buy a Stihl gas saw one size bigger than what you think you need, and enjoy decades of service. Some people swear by the Huskys or their various rebadges, but I have personally seen issues with these within the first year. I bought my Stihl MS390 when I...

    What is this tool?

I see pairs of these everywhere but I've never known what they were for and I've never known anyone else that knew either. This one is actually missing the little stop screw that it's supposed to have. I'm wondering if it's something that you use to put nose rings in hogs or other animals...

HF plastic caliper, anything a little better?

I have one by Franklin Arsenal, I'm sure it's a rebrand. I think I gave $25-30 for it, it's a steel dial caliper and if it's good enough for reloading purposes it's perfectly fine for any other need I'll have for it.

    John Deere Tools

Unless I was some major John Deere fanatic I would avoid them. I'd say the quality is fine, but they're just generic Taiwan tools with a John Deere price tag. I checked out the toolboxes when I stopped to pick up some combine parts and I was underwhelmed. The quality was well under Harbor...

Super-Exciting News for SK Day!! 9/23 and 9/24

Most sockets are shipped loose regardless of manufacturer. Even if they are in a tray when you buy them, they were dumped in a box or a bin after chroming with the other 10,000 sockets they made that day and towmotored to a warehouse. They haven't got some guy standing at the end of the line...

Super-Exciting News for SK Day!! 9/23 and 9/24

I got an email saying it would be a week and possibly two on my 20 piece stubby set, which is no problem for me. I expected a delay because of the event, plus I was one of the later orders. Thanks again to Epstein's and SK for doing this for us, it's bound to be a headache!

    Why Buy Snap-on?

You mean like our Mercedes that grenaded a $5,000 turbo at 40,000 miles? My Cummins finally lost a turbo at 290,000, after being subjected to incredible amounts of abuse and it only lost it then due to low oil. The German's make some good stuff but it sure as hell isn't perfect. I'm not sure...
