    Best insulation for the price

Blow in is pretty cost effective for the ceiling if you have a lid in place. A 30 pound bag is around $14 which covers 60sqft at R19. In your 40x48 you would be around $450 for R19, $900 for R38 which would be better. Rental is free for machine if DIY and for Cellulose you don't need a vapor...

Do I need to be concerned about Voltage drop in branch circuits?

Thanks that is helpful basically the same as the chart I have which shows 3% VD. (pattenp) I thought the NEC recommendation was 3% Feeder, 3% branch and 5% combined max. Anyway thanks.

Do I need to be concerned about Voltage drop in branch circuits?

So getting some wiring done and wondering if I'm overly concerned about voltage drop in my outlets. I ran some in slab conduit but not enough. So the longest run about 120' one way, it will have 2 or 3 outlets and then 2 outlets for garage door openers. The outlets will see occasional shop...

    Is 24x24 too small?

Depending on the vehicles you work on, my truck is about 23' long so parking it in a 24' garage would be tight. If you can go 30' do it that gives you some wiggle room on lift placement also. It shouldn't add that much cost, pole spacing would go from 4 posts at 8' to 4 at 10' so no extra...

Ceiling vs Wall vs No Insulation Priority Question

Yes ceiling first, the Stucco wall will give some R value, if there is a South facing wall that would be the next choice to keep heat down.

    plumber pricing?

Well as usual things have gotten a bit out of hand. Are you capable of digging the hole yourself? Maybe you can save that $300 by doing it. If possible get another bid and see where the two stand, it's not leaking so no real hurry right? I admit I'm a DIY versus paying someone but sometimes...

    condensation problem in garage?

I have something similar, I did use a vapor barrier under slab and then sealed with densifier. I get when temps are below freezing dark spots in a few areas, at this point shop isn't heated. Don't think it's a concern, it not actually wet to the touch. The other thing I haven't noticed it in...

Insulate Ceiling Before or After Sheetrock?

Sounds like the OP made up his mind. Just my two cents I'm looking at both wall and ceiling insulation now and blow in is about half what batts are. That's looking at Big Orange prices, you might also be surprised at what a insulation company charges compared to you doing batts and them doing...

What is your “I wish I would have during your build...?

Run several PVC conduits under slab from panel to "other" side of shop, I did some of that but not enough. I would also look into standing seam metal roof, not surface screwed. I have had like 5 leaks most were bad screws, under driven. The cost is probably prohibitive though.

Can I use this overhead space in my garage for storage?

Not very deep looking what is it from outside wall to the wall? The 2x2's look to be nailed from the bottom so not much load bearing. Like mentioned above light stuff only. You could span to that wall on top? or nail a joist to the face and hang joists. Looking at live loads Living...

Source of small diameter 24" radius elbows?

I used a tank-top propane heater for all my PVC grey 2 1/2" electrical, white schedule 80, 3/4" to 2". Just hold it about 6-10" away keep rotating and moving along the bend, it will get soft like taffy too long in one spot it will darken/burn. Lay it on the garage floor form the bend being...

    The Best Light Fixture Ever!

Your space is similar to mine 36' X 56" X 16" within 100 square feet. One option is a 4x5 pattern 20 fixtures at about 14,000Lm which would give me about 97FC at workspace height. The other was 15 lights at 19,000Lm equals about 106fc, both those fixtures were Diva lights. I have been...

Need help with upholstering a stool

Amazon has Round Stool Seat Chair Upholstery Foam Pad Cushion Replacement Medium Firm about $25. High density and Medium density refer to the durability of the foam not the cushioning ability. A number 26 is higher durability, 18 is standard, you might see a number 2632 so durability and 32...

Floor and stub foundation wall insulation worth it?

If you are going to insulate the floor then you might as well run tubing, when I priced things out insulation was more, tubing was cheap.
