What software does Torque Test Channel use for these "fastener drive force distribution" visualizations?

Vaughan soft face hammer, how is the tip retained?

What keeps the "replaceable tip" in place? It looks like just a square hole. The description says "press fit". Is there steel around the square hole, inside the rubber face? https://www.zoro.com/vaughan-1-38-in-dia-soft-face-hammer-tip-plastic-red-press-fit-sf12s/i/G1235717/

    M18 battery diagnostics hacked

The "Tool Scientist" has a new video on YouTube reporting that the internet has made major progress in it's effort to reverse engineer the Milwaukee M18's diagnostic information.

Interesting tool battery technical analysis video.

This YouTuber is doing 'in depth' tool battery analysis. Among other things, he is eavesdropping on the I2C bus to determine what the cpu is doing. This particular video is about determining if the new Milwaukee batteries do 'balance charging' (they do not).

    Farm Jack Patent?

I've been looking for a patent for what I believe is commonly called a "farm jack", and can't find one. Searching google patents, I've found similar jacks, but with teeth on an outside rail. I can't find anything with what I would describe as "climbing pins". I don't want to make a jack, I just...

Is Knipex the only wire cutter that can consistently cut stranded?

This YouTuber (Outdoors55) seems to think so. He mainly does knife sharpening videos and seems to know a lot about sharp edges. He also has a follow up video where he found that Grandpa's wire cutter is better.

Hydraulic crimping tool misused for wire rope ferrules?

Anybody willing to admit that they have used a hydraulic crimping tool (for electrical terminals) to make crimps on wire rope ferrules? The hydraulic crimping tool has hex dies. The dies for wire rope ferrules are round. I don't see any other difference. Did you get good results?

What is this thing; Single-phase motor starter?

What is this thing called? I'm fairly certain that it selectively sends power to the "starting winding" on my fractional HP single-phase motor (on a HF benchtop belt sander). The current for the motor "run winding" runs through the external coil of wire in the device. I haven't made any...

    What is this?

I came home with these from my cousin's estate sale. She was a farmer then later a nurse. What are they? Google image search suggests that they are "felting needles", but I am unsure. I have about 50 of them. Most of the bodies seem to be brass and the needles are steel. The needles seem...

Hex wrench reducer (insert) for ratcheting wrench

I found these ratcheting wrenches on Amazon that have 1 or 2 ratcheting wrenches plus many small adapters (insertable reducers) so the wrench can be used on many smaller hex sizes. This for example. They are "kind of like" the Astro nano sockets idea. I wonder where I could buy a set of the...

New Craftsman duds at Lowes; Pliers Wrench, 180T Ratchet

I found some "new to me" Craftsman in the Lowe's store recently. Two items that seem like duds. 180T Craftsman 3/8 ratchet, $45 "2.5X BETTER ACCESS(when compared to Craftsman 72 tooth ratchets): 180-Tooth Dual Pawl Mechanism" Back-drag seemed very high. It's been said here many times that...

TPI of ******* cut metalworking file

What is up with the TPI (teeth per inch) counts for metalworking hand files? It seems obvious to me that lower TPI makes for a more course cut, and that higher TPI makes for a more fine cut. I have a 6" flat file that I like (it is the most aggressive metalworking file that I own), and want to...

Does this wire crimp tool exist?

I have several crimp tools similar to this: It has 3 crimping dies for "open barrel, uninsulated crimps", but they are between the pivot and the grips. Does a similar tool exist that has those 3 crimping dies in front of the pivot (like so)?

    Ratcheting flare nut wrench

Anybody willing to admit that they've used one of these? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082H91G6P/?tag=atomicindus08-20 I'm curious to learn how well they work, how durable, etc. Also, how long have they been around?

    Lazy craftsman.com website

The craftsman.com website is pitiful. Just look at their 'sockets and socket sets' selection here. There are some 'filters' on the left side to help you find what you're looking for. I've attached an image of the 'drive size' filter below for posterity. Selecting '4' alone gets you 1/4" an...
