#4 or #6 for the shop?

you guys are missing the 'Type TC' thats tray cable which is a NEC cable type, usually suitable for direct burial and sunlight exposure. I dont know if and where its allowed in residential uses. The STO is a dual listing. (I would love to see a product listed as STOW/TC-ER/NM-B/UF-B)

#4 or #6 for the shop?

does it have 3 or 4 wires in it? does it say its listed for direct burial? the STO would make it a cord which you couldnt use but it appears to be dual listed as tray cable which you *might* be able to use. The best move would be to sell it as its worth alot more than the proper cable for your...

Backup generator with solar PV setup

does the inverter have an islanding mode? maybe add some batteries and omit the generator

Backup generator with solar PV setup

my answer would be maybe. depends on how sensitive to grid frequency the inverter is, and the quality of the generator. I have a feeling it would work when you first fire it up, but then every time a load is switched on and off the inverter would trip offline.

Q on installing 2-2-2-4 Al SER in conduit

Yes, 53% fill so youre ok wiht 1-1/4" conduit. Conduit bodies however have restriction on conductor size due to bend radius. Here is a handy chart http://www.cooperindustries.com/content/dam/public/crousehinds/Industrial%20EX%20Products/Other%20PDFs/Industrial%20Fittings%20Wire%20fill%20chart.pdf

Q on installing 2-2-2-4 Al SER in conduit

Biggest conductor allowed in a regular 1-1/4" conduit body is #2, and 2-2-2-4 SER comes out to 900 and something MCM. (unless im looking at this wrong). Why not use individual conductors in the conduit?

Q on installing 2-2-2-4 Al SER in conduit

I think you are way over the fill limit putting 2-2-2-4 AL SER in 1-1/4" conduit, not to mention the fill and bend radius in the LB. Is the entire run in conduit? If so use individual conductors, not SER.

    How many 220v outlets?

as far as multiple outlets on one circuit, it doesnt have anything to do with voltage it has to do with connected load. Basically the rule is this: If the equipment being powered is fixed in place, and it draws 50% or more of the circuit ampacity it has to be on its own circuit (and 'i wont run...
