    Dewalt blower at Ace

Went to my local Ace Hardware (Mobile, Alabama) this morning to pick up the Dewalt brushless XR blower with a 5ah battery and the DCB115 charger. Price posted on the shelf was $199.99. When I got to the register and it was scanned, there was a $10 manufacturer rebate and when I swiped my Ace...

    Trip to HJ Epstein’s

I’ve ordered from them several times over the years but this was my first visit to the store. I was visiting my brother in St. Louis and decided this morning that I was gonna make the 3 hour or so drive to KC and see it for myself. First, everyone there is extremely personable and helpful. Jori...

Cle-Line USA drill bits at Lowes

I noticed that the 14 pc. set was reduced down to $17.98 from around $50 or so originally. I’ve got bits galore so not in dire need of these. Anyone got any rave reviews on them that might make me change my mind on buying them. They get average reviews from what I’ve read online.

    2005 Dodge Ram driveshaft

My 2005 Ram work truck (3.7L V6) started vibrating badly while driving and threw the driveshaft today. Appear to be a failed U joint. The shaft came completely off of both the transmission and rear drive case leaving the slip yoke and the rear yoke both installed. Can the shaft be installed...

    Walked outside and found this!

. This was a month or so ago and I meant to post it before now. I thought it was pretty awesome. I walked out onto the back patio one day looking for him because he'd been quiet for a few minutes and ran into this. That's a little box that "Santa Claus" brought him last Christmas. It stays in...

Anyone have a Ridgid F series 4-1/2" vise?

I want to treat myself to a new vise for the shop and have decided on a Ridgid F series. I already have a Columbian 5" and don't really need a larger vise so am seriously considering the 4-1/2" Ridgid. I've laid hands on a 6" but am having trouble finding pics of the smaller version. Do any of...

Advance Auto selling the Craftsman brand?

Was on Craftsman.com the other day looking at a few items. You can't buy off of that site anymore as it directs you to Sears.com or you have the option to search for a brick & mortar location. Our local Sears closed last year so I typed in my zip code to see if one of the local Ace Hardware...

Worth of premium tools sans the onsite sales and service?

I start this thread as an honest look into the percent of cost that is service related when buying Snap-On, MAC, Matco and Cornwell tools. I don't dispute the quality of any of these brands or the viability of the unique relationship they have with automotive techs. I ask simply due to the fact...

Channellock screwdrivers in local Brick and Mortar?

I've seen the new model Channellock screwdrivers on Amazon and the Channellock site but have been unable to locate them at any of my local brick/mortar stores. I live in South Alabama and have checked Do it Best, Ace, Lowes, HD and a few mom and pop stores. Anyone out there had any luck finding...

    Dewalt right angle attachment.

I don't have enough need for a right angle drill/driver to justify the cost of buying one. I saw this in Lowes the other dayfor $34.99 and it somewhat interested me. Anyone used or have any experience with it? It seems like it could be useful as I do have a battery impact.

    Who made these for Proto?

I have a 4" Proto adjustable made by Crescent and ordered some new 12" Proto "ClickStop" adjustables for work made by WF. I've got this older 12" and was curious if anyone knew who the manufacturer was. Thanks.

Any experience with CM U.S.A. ratcheting wrenches?

I was in one of the local ACE hardware stores today and noticed that they had a good assortment of the U.S.A. made Craftsman RP ratcheting wrenches. These are 0 deg. offset and are non-reversible. In fact an entire set of SAE 3/8 through 3/4 and a majority of a MM set 11-19 could be had by...

Update on Ideal electricians tools at Lowes

Sorry about the multiple posts with pics. Damn iPad! Anyway, posted a while back that I saw a few U.S. made Ideal tools in an area next to the South wire stuff. They've now got more of it alongside the Southwire. Just posting the pics and price comparisons. This is in Mobile, Alabama.

Ideal Industries electrical hand tools at Lowes

Was in Lowes today to buy a GFCI plug and lo and behold... there near all the Southwire electricians tools sat a small section of Ideal U.S.A. made products. Mind you, it was small. Maybe 8-10 items (a few different strippers and whatnot) but it was unexpected to see. Anyone else noticed this in...

    Klein Rewards Program

Anyone here a member of the Klein points program? If not, it's pretty good in my opinion. You get 1 point per dollar spent (they even round up to the nearest dollar!) and rewards start at 50 points. It's easy to use and there's decent swag to be had. All the info on signing up is on their website.

    Blast from the Past

Was in Pep Boys today and saw these on the rack. Packaging said 2005 on the backside. This is a very busy location in the middle of town and I was surprised to see them still hanging out.

    Impact sockets from Epsteins

Posted a few days ago about needing impact sockets for occasional use around the house and shop. Since then, I've shopped around quite a bit and have decided that I'll spend a bit more than originally planned and get either a set of the Wright or SK impacts from HJE. Both are in the $70 range...
